Hi! This is a great interactive PowerPoint game which ties in nicely to your unit study of the Civil War. I used this with my 8th grade American History class, and it was very well-received...and fun!! It made for an effective and engaging review before our chapter test.
I've included many relevant graphics and extra info. in the game, and two of the answers contain links to external sites with corresponding information. (One takes you to the NPS website about Appomattox Court House, VA, and the other links to a 3-min. video clip about the Battle of Gettysburg.
The categories for this game are Secession (info about the states which seceded from the Union to form the Confederate States of America); Famous Names (well-known people and places of the Civil War); Advantages- N or S (students tell whether the advantage given was one that benefitted the North or the South); Decisive Battles (info about significant battles); and Honest Abe (facts and info about President Lincoln and his term during the war). There is also a Final Jeopardy question that students can write and answer to, if you'd like. As is, the game should take between 45 min. to an hour.
The best part is that you can customize this game to fit your needs. Don't need a particular question or category? Change it to what works best for you!
This works great when used with a projector and/or SMART board. Have fun, and please look at my other items. :) Like my products? Please rate me. :) Thanks, and enjoy!
