Product Description
Civil War Journal Project

This journal project will give your students an opportunity to reflect on the Civil War from the perspective of a person who was there experiencing it. Students will write journal entries from the perspective of a character who experienced it-examples include an infantry or cavalry soldier, a soldier's wife, a factory owner, a slave, etc. These journal entries will show that students have researched and understand their character's perspective in history, as well as the time period. They will also create a monologue from their character, and have the choice of extra elements that allow creativity and show a deeper understanding of events that took place during the Civil War and how people were impacted.

If you are looking for a cumulative activity that provides an authentic, hands-on way for your students to show their understanding of the events and people impacted by the Civil War, then this project is for you!

Note: A rubric is included, and the document is editable so you can adjust it for your project needs.
