Civil War Worksheet - Marriage Counseling for the Union
This is a fun activity to use at the beginning of your Civil War unit! Students imagine that the split between the Union and Confederacy was like a divorce and send them to marriage counseling!
Students act as America's leading psychiatrist to guide each side through why they are upset and what can be done to bring the United States back together again. After completing one side on how each side is feeling, students write a short essay on their recommendations for what should be done to keep the Union whole. A sample/answer key is provided.
This is a great activity that your students will definitely enjoy while also giving them a great understanding of the issues at hand at the start of the Civil War!
