PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Robert E. Lee's home was directly across the river from Washington, DC. Lee was offered command of the U.S. Army near the start of the Civil War, but he rejected the offer because he was loyal to his state of Virginia. He assumed command of the Southern Army, and many people were angry at his decision. Threats were made to bury dead soldiers in his yard; that actually happened and the Arlington National Cemetery was created. The author tells this story using her own photographs of Lee's home and a variety of pictures of the cemetery. This presentation also features the gravesite of President John F. Kennedy and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I marked that this PowerPoint can be used at the end of the year because it is appropriate for Memorial Day.
