This PowerPoint presentation has 51 slides of pictures and text that trace the escape route of John Wilkes Booth after he assassinated Abraham Lincoln in Ford's Theater at the close of the Civil War. Some of the main stops along the route were the Boarding House of Mary Surratt as well as the Surratt House and Tavern and the home of Dr. Samuel Mudd, both convicted accomplices of John Wilkes Booth. This presentation provides opportunity for insightful discussion and critical thinking as students' formulate their opinions of guilt or innocence of the key characters. It can be used in social studies or in conjunction with the TpT ELA resource called :Chasing Lincoln's Killer."
