This activity integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Social Studies.
Classes read about the Andersonville Civil War prison and go on to construct a wall like the one around the prison.
Students are given a $50 budget to construct the wall. They must "purchase" their supplies with a choice of straws, pencils, tape, and yarn. The price list and budget charts are included.
Students will then research modern electric fencing; then, compare and contrast (venn diagram and essay) modern electric fences with traditional prison fences.
Made specifically to the Georgia standards, but can fit with many others.
