This is a craftivity that is related to the Civil War. You will be receiving directions on how to create a Civil War Paper Chain. This paper chain will have 4 soldier templates. The directions will provide your students with 4 different opportunities to compare and contrast the Union soldiers to the Confederate Soldiers. I have included a comparison chart that can be utilized during a lesson, while watching video clips, or for internet research. After students have completed their research and organizer they can use their information to complete the paper chain activity. I have included to different sets of directions. One set is specific to students who live in Tennessee (since this is where I teach) and the other could be utilized with students living in any area of the United States.
I recently completed this activity with my students, and they LOVED it! I have included 2 pictures of their paper chains as examples. As you can see, they are adorable! I know your students will enjoy this activity as well. I believe this could be an excellent activity to utilize in a literacy center stocked with passages and books related to Union and Confederate Soldier characteristics. This craftivity is also include in a larger bundle including lesson plans, study guides, foldables, note catchers, and comprehension activities related to the beginning of the civil war. Thanks for considering my projects!
