1. Students will receive a word splash list that contains an alphabetical listing of terms relating to the Civil War. They will sort them into 3 categories on the chart page: USA, CSA, shared experiences. Battles should be listed under the side that was victorious. An answer key is provided.
2. Next, students will choose a word splash design page. They can use one of the three designs included or make their own. Students will choose 3 colors (or 3 color families) to represent each category. For example, any shade of blue could represent the USA. Words may be written in any direction, using any style. Not all words must be used from the charts - students may pick out the 15 most important words, for example. An example of a word splash has been included.
