This one day web quest was built to provide a quick interactive connecting point for my students between the Civil War and Reconstruction.
This web quest begins by asking students to read an article (regarding post Civil War times) and answer 7 questions. Students are then guided to 3 mini-films on the topics of Reconstruction, 15th Amendment and Myths of the Civil War, where at their own pace, they will answer a total of 12 additional questions.
I initially created this activity to be used on a substitute day, keeping the class work authentic without requiring much historical knowledge by the sub, thereby allowing my students to work solo on their Chromebook, stopping and staring the mini films as necessary, and continuing forward momentum on my unit of instruction. I received such positive feedback from the students and substitute, that this will become a staple activity in my Civil War Reconstruction Unit.
Website links for the mini-films and reading are provided on the document.
