The packet includes the directions, templates, a checklist to guide students in creating their own civilization on a poster, and a score sheet. The packet is available in both Word and a PDF.

The students will learn about the different parts that make up a civilization, including geography, religion, achievements, politics, economics, and social structures and culture.
They will create and label maps, choose a belief system, draw a discovery or invention, choose a system of government, create laws, create a system of currency or trade, choose important jobs, create a social class pyramid, and create a piece of artwork.

great for a group project
I love this idea. It fits in perfectly for an end-of-the-year culminating group project to reinforce what we cover in sixth grade social studies: Ancient Civilizations. I plan on having students work on elements of this as we work through the year, tweaking as they go, and then have a big civilizations revealed day at the end of the year. Love how this brings a deeper level of thought and engagement to what we already cover.
