BIOGEOCHEMICAL CYCLES: WATER, CARBON, AND NITROGEN CYCLES
The Question: What will happen when Biogeochemical cycles become unbalanced?
In this activity students will read one to three articles giving a brief explanation of each cycle and consequences that can happen when the biogeochemical/nutrient cycles are disrupted in nature. After reading the selection and studying the graphs students will be asked to logically reason their claim applying Claim, Evidence, Reasoning, and Rebuttal. Along with teaching of the Biogeochemical Cycles this activity could be used for a week long Ecology project. Try my lesson called Biogeochemical Cycles: Make a Mobile Project.
- 3 articles with Question statement (one each for the Water Cycle, Carbon Cycle, and Nitrogen Cycle)
-4 Claim, Evidence, Reasoning, Rebuttal templates (one each for each question) You can have students write on the whole concept or take each concept individually.
-1 C.E.R.R POSTER with instructions on how to fill in a C.E.R.R. task paper
-1 Blank Template (to use with all of your science writing in class)
