Do your students struggle to write a cohesive scientific explanation? Mine did, and, as a result, I developed this resource.
With the Next Generation Science Standards being implemented across the country, there is a greater emphasis placed on students acting as scientists: conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and closely reading scientific texts. Students are also expected to write like scientists. By learning how to make a claim, support it with evidence, and give reasoning in a context that students are familiar with, they become much better at applying this strategy in science class.
I have students glue this "cheat sheet" into their interactive science notebook and refer back to it throughout the year as they write scientific explanations.
I hope you find this tool as useful as I have! Please leave feedback.
