Product Description
This is a 6 page power point poster set, which you can use to teach students about supporting their claim to a question posed in science class. We go through the power point and then practice a story problem using the scientific method and fill out the student template together. Then the following day I print out the student template and posters and hang them in the room. The students write out their Question, Claim, Supported Evidence, and their Reasoning behind their Claim. There are many ways to implement this strategy which is used in the new NGSS Science Standards. We just used it using "Caminanimulcules" which is an phylogeny lab through NSTA and can be found for free through the internet. It was very burdensome, so we shortened the lab using the CER's strategy and had the students build a phylogenetic tree using the make believe animal print outs at the NSTA site.

Writing in History, Science, Technical Subjects WHST.6‐8.1.
