I used this graphic organizer that I created with News ELA articles (which I assigned to students based on lexile level). We were all reading an article on the same topic and creating the same assignment, but were reading on various levels. I created the short answer based on a very similar short answer that my students will take on an upcoming test. I also reviewed and wrote on the board to look for evidence by looking for:
-examples (for example)
-outside sources (" ")
We did the front side together and they completed the backside in pairs.
