This Class Activity - 30-60-90 Triangles was created by Pupsaroni Puzzles for use in a classroom studying 30-60-90 triangles. This activity was created so students could practice the short-cuts using x,2x, and x on the square root of three.
Card 2 can be printed out on different colored cards for the
Cards 4-63 can be printed out to place around the classroom or hall for students to work from.
Cards 4-23 have whole numbers from 1-20 across from the 30
Cards 24-43 have whole numbers from 1-20 across from the right angle.
Cards 44-63 have whole numbers from 1-20 across from the 60 degree angle.
Cards 64-123 are answer cards.
Students take their cards and cut them out. Students are
instructed not to put their color card where there is already a card of that color, and they are not to put a number card where there is
already a card of that number. This ensures students look at a
variety of different problems.
This activity is great for students who want to work alone or in pairs. Pairs give students an opportunity to discuss how to solve problems. This activity also allows students to get up and move around. It can be used multiple times if the cards are laminated. Students can tape their cards up next to the triangles that they are working on. Those cards with their triangles can then be discussed in groups or in as a class.
