This set includes a cover for a manila envelope to send Class Books home inside to the families in your class. It also includes Parent Comment Sheets.
I love creating class books with my students. We create one for most special events, field trips, thematic units and holidays. I create a laminated cover for the book, and have students each create a page. I also laminate the back cover for durability. I use the comb binding machine at school and it turns into a great looking book!
I read the book to the class and they love commenting on each others work (“I like your details”, or “Great handwriting”, etc).
I attach the cover sheet onto a large manila envelope and copies of the parent comment sheet (enough copies for each parent to make a comment). I think it is eye opening to some parents to see how their child is preforming in comparison to their peers.
Then, I send the book home with a different child each night. I use a class checklist to keep track of who has which book. I usually have several rotating at once. After everyone has gotten a chance to take it home, we read the parents comments together.
At the end of the year, I usually have enough class books to let each child choose one to keep. They love that!
