This is a five-day outline to help teachers organize effective inquiry-based classroom debate programs. It is designed to focus students on the essential skills of debate, note-taking, reading and highlighting, essay writing, consideration of multiple perspectives, and critiquing. Students will listen to others' perspectives, read articles, and formulate their own ideas, and then engage in a debate and write an essay using the evidence they have collected. It also includes debate ideas to engage high school level students.
