This guide has everything you need for a small group literature circle/book club study of Class Dismissed, by Allan Woodrow. For each group of chapters (usually 3), students complete vocabulary work, an input-output chart to record their thoughts, and critical thinking comprehension questions. Three pages at the end are included for students to finalize their thoughts about their reading: an open mind diagram, a compare/contrast activity, and a point of view activity. I have my students complete work as they read, then come together and share their thoughts (and add to their answers)--groups run themselves and I check in regularly!
Comprehension questions focus on making inferences, supporting answers with text evidence, making text-to-self connections, and evaluating characters' choices--questions that lead to deeper critical thinking about the text!
32 pages are for student use. The remaining pages are the answer key with suggested answers.
