Class journals were a big hit with my students this year. We wrote in them almost weekly and they were always excited to write in them. I use them both as quiet whole class journal time, as well as a station during reading and writing class. I also suggest students put their name in the front of all the notebooks they have written in—it makes it easier to see if they have written in it already. I also allow time once a month for my students to share something from one of the journals. Writing Prompts can be cut out and glued onto regular 1-subject notebooks.
