Question: What is more FUN than taking the class pet home?
Contains everything you need to assemble a class journal. This can be transported back and forth with a class pet of your choice.
-Cover for Class Pet Journal (Editable)
-Writing/Drawing Journal Pages (2 different templates, you can choose based on your students' abilities.)
-Class Pet MUSTS page (Gives directions on what students are expected to do when taking home the class pet.)
-FAQs page (Includes commonly asked questions that parents might have and answers to their questions.)
-"What I Should Do With Our Class Pet?" page (Gives students ideas of activities they can do with the class pet.)
How to Use This:
-Buy a stuffed animal or you may use a real-life class pet.
-Have students name their class pet and come up with it’s about me info: name, age, favorite color, and food.
-Go into the editable version and type in your class pet’s info and add a picture of your pet in the box provided. Or you may print off the cover from the final version and just paste or draw a picture, and write in your class pet’s info.
-Have a carrier case for your class pet. I use a plastic tote with side latches and a handle for easy carrying and accessibility. I also make sure my tote is big enough to fit both the class pet journal and the class pet. This prevents either from being lost or damaged.
-When a student returns the class pet and journal, I have a time allotted on Monday/Wednesday/Fridays to share their class pet adventures with the whole class. Usually takes about 2-3 minutes. This helps with their speaking and listening skills.
Students LOVE our class pet and this is such a fun way to build that home-school connection! As a teacher, I love hearing about what students are doing at home with their families, and to see pictures of them with the class pet. Parents get really involved in this as well, they tend to send in lots of pictures and share that their students had so much fun with the class pet. This is a MUST-HAVE product in any classroom.
