Do your students need practice graphing? Do you like picnic lunches? Do you
need to be flexible when planning out your math unit? This is a two in one project
that can be switched up if you find yourself short on time. Compile data for
favorite sandwiches, vegetables, fruit, drinks and dessert. Then lead your
students in discussions to draw conclusions about the data.
Project 1: This has 5 filled in pictographs. Students analyze and interpret the data
on the final page. Attach the cover page and have students draw their favorites
in the plate sections for a 7 page booklet. An answer page is included. This
project is perfect if you are shorter on time. You may want to use this project
your first year. 8 pages included.
Project 2: This project has tickets for voting. Write the totals on the board, then
draw in the data on the 5 pictograph pages (model the sandwich section at the
board, then have students fill in the subsequent pages). Students analyze and
interpret the data on the final page. Attach the cover page and have students
draw their favorites in the plate sections for a 7 page booklet. This project is
perfect if you want an engaging project using students' interests. 8 pages included.
