9 day unit plan using the book Class President by Johanna Horwitz.
Reading: Includes comprehension questions for each chapter, exit slips asking students to summarize each chapter, main idea and details slip, and a characters and their traits worksheet. Each reading lesson plan includes a quick glance grade sheet including points for participation and scores for each worksheet. Also includes guidelines for requirements of worksheet and participation points. A summative assessment is provided at the end of the unit, which takes the place of a test. Students are required to create a flier. Directions and a rubric are provided.

Determine the main idea of a text and explain how it is supported by key details; summarize the text.
Writing: Includes writing prompts for some chapters asking students to respond to a quote from the chapter. Also includes a summative assessment where students are required to, over 4-5 days, answer questions, do a writing prompt, write a rough draft, and write a final draft about what makes a good president and how they would help their school if they were elected president. It is also required that students use vocabulary words and spell them correctly. A rubric is provided.

Spelling: Includes spelling word lists, spelling tests, and different spelling activities including word pyramids, writing words in fancy letters, writing words in different colors, and writing words multiple times.
Spell grade-appropriate words correctly, consulting references as needed.
Vocabulary: Includes definition packet where students are required to write down each definition while going along with the book. Each chapter has a vocabulary activity, which includes writing sentences, drawing pictures, and word scrambles. Students are required to turn in their definition packets for points.
Determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words or phrases in a text relevant to a grade 4 topic or subject area.
Each activity and all other supplemental materials are provided, along with answer keys. Each subject/activity can either be done as whole group, small groups, individual, or in centers.
