This resource can be used with any subject! The possibilities are endless!
It’s a great tool for students to practice asking questions and gathering, summarizing, and interpreting data. The resource requires no prep on the part of the teacher. All instructions are clearly laid out on each student’s paper for reference. This activity can be used to survey classmates, other students in the school, or people outside of school.
1)Preparing for the activity:
•Students should record their topic and create five questions that they will ask in their survey.
2)Conducting the survey:
•When conducting the survey, students should record their findings on their paper.
•Several people will likely give the same answers. The teacher should instruct students to put a check (✓ ) beside answers to keep track of how many people have given the same answer.
3) Reporting on findings.
•After students have asked their questions and recorded all answers they can complete the report section of the activity.
•For each question, students should write two or three sentences to summarize their findings.
•Students may then complete a more detailed report where they answer questions to summarize and interpret their findings.
