This Class News form is a wonderful way to communicate to parents the highlights of a week in your class. You can write the entries each day or have your class give you a sentence to copy. Take turns letting the students illustrate each day. If you know you won’t have time on Friday to copy the newsletter you can fill out the Friday entry ahead of time. By using a simple sentence it provides your students with an opportunity to read to their parents and it also models how they can write their own journal entries. There is also space available to write reminders to the parents and information about the next week. If you want your students to write their own newsletter you can fill out the Parent News and Next Week before making the copies. You could brainstorm the events of the week and then have students write their own sentences with pictures. If that is too difficult you could have them copy the sentence off the board and then illustrate.
