At the culmination of our learning on idioms, my class made a book of idioms. Each student selected an idiom and illustrated the literal version of the idiom (for instance, the "put a sock in it" page had a little boy holding socks in his mouth). Then, I had them assemble their pages by gluing picture with caption that I printed for them. I made the cover page, laminated all pages, and bound together. Students took turns reading the book and presenting their pages with the explanation of literal meaning vs figuative meaning of their idioms (since they are the experts on them now). Then we kept the book in the class library. It was something the kids loved showing off when parent night came at the end of the year!
This download includes a nice cover page and 17 idioms with large, readable, interesting font. The sizing is perfect to print on 8x11 white paper and then do your gluing on larger sheets of colored construction paper.
