In this activity the students are given five species for which they have to research the classification levels. Knowing at what levels the species are similar and different will then guide them through how to research information for creating a cladogram. After they have researched these similarities and differences, they will create a dichotomous key for the species. This was designed for students to work individually on the five given species, but if the teacher wants any/all students to work in pairs, space and directions have been given for the pairs to work on eight species for each part of the activity.
A list of helpful videos was given in case any students need additional assistance on these topics.
