Included in this resource is a pre-lab classification chart that helps students organize the domains and kingdoms by their characteristics (nutrition, cell structures, etc.). The lab template includes a similar table that is designed to be filled out as students go from station to station observing different organisms.
Note: the organisms are for you to decide because of all the different things you can use, including:
★ Microscope Slides of bacteria and protists
★ Skeletons or shells that represent an organism
★ Jarred/preserved specimens
★ Models of specimens
★ Living specimens (class pet? let's classify it!)
★ Photographs or print outs of specimens
This is a fun way for students to get up and moving, and thinking about classifying organisms!
