Classification- Modern Classification
This is a 4 page document that explores how biochemicals such as DNA and proteins can help us to determine evolutionary time and relationships between species.
This explores 2 modern techniques: DNA-DNA hybridization and protein clocks. The activity is completely self-contained, so they can answer the questions directly from the text, as well as some critical thinking questions
**Differentiated Version** There is a differentiated version that includes different ways of asking the questions for lower levels or struggling readers.
☞ DNA-DNA hybridization summary (very easy concept) and diagram analysis
☞ Protein Clocks summary and chart analysis
☞ General questions
☞ Mutations and speciation diagram (students must color and answer questions).
☞ Build an evolutionary tree based on the speciation/mutation diagram
4 pages; 2 versions; answer sheet included.
