1. Interactive Powerpoint - detailed powerpoint showing each reaction type with analogies to simpsons characters + examples of real reactions and pictures
2. Powerpoint - warm up or review of basic equation types
3. Notes and Assignment - Includes a warm up section to assess prior understanding. Students make scaffolded notes during power points. After the notes are finished, students should cut out the reactions at the back (individually or in groups) and put them into the empty boxes for reaction types so that the instructor can assess their understanding. When students are finished, they complete the assignment at the end - completing, balancing, and classifying equations.
4. Mini-project. Students come up with their own chemical reaction analogy (may also be a cartoon) and choose 3 reaction types to demonstrate it comic strip style. The Simpsons example from the power point can be used as a model. Includes criteria and marking scheme.
