Description

PowerPoint-based interactive Science game to introduce, practice or review the concept of animal classification: invertebrates. It is a fully digital, paperless, no-prep resource that is perfect for traditional classroom settings, 1:1 schools, or distance learning.

iQuiz stands for an interactive quiz, yet it can be used as a whole group activity. It a fun question-and-answer game-like PowerPoint Presentation that uses Visual Basic Macros (VBA) to help keep score between the 4 players/ 4 teams. Just click on a checkmark (correct), and the value will be added, click on “x” (incorrect), and the value will be subtracted from the score of this player/team. Click the "Reset" button to reset the entire board and scores.

Looking for a fun way to engage in the concept of classification of invertebrate animals? What about a little scientific competition? 20 questions in 4 fun categories:

  • Mollusca (mollusks/molluscs)
  • Annelida (ringed worms or segmented worms)
  • Arthropoda (arachnids, crustaceans, insects, millipedes, and centipedes)
  • Cnidaria (corals, jellyfish, sea anemones, and hydrozoans)

Each category has five questions with five different dollar-point levels ranging from 100 to 500. Students will find some questions more challenging than others. Since the text is editable, feel free to change the questions to meet your students' needs.

Assign each player/ team a color: red, green, blue, and purple. Display the gameboard with all four categories and begin the game. Allow the first team to choose a topic and a point value for a question. Click on this question box, and it will take you to the question intro slide, which will lead you to the question. Read a question and wait for the player/ team to respond to it before the time runs out (30 secs). Open the "Answer" slide to show the correct answer. Then add scores (if it is correct) or subtract the points (if incorrect) with a click of a button, and the scoreboard will be updated. Fun! Fun! Fun!

Game features:

  • editable rules slide
  • interactive gameboard slide
  • 20 intro slides presenting a category and point value of a question
  • 20 Question Slides (with 30 secs automated bar-like timer) - EDITABLE questions
  • 20 Answer Slides - EDITABLE answers
  • automatically updating scores on a gameboard to track points for each player/ team
  • interactive buttons such as a reset button reset the game board.

NOTE: You will need to enable macros for the presentation to work correctly. Instructions are included. I use PowerPoint 2018 for Windows.

Have a good time while reviewing the classification of invertebrates. Each question has an answer. Therefore, it is easy to start a conversation and get kiddos thinking.
