This template can be used to encourage the higher order thinking skill of Classifying. Students can be given any number of items to classify into up to four groups. An example is provided for both student and teacher use. The instructions provided are:
Your teacher has given you a group of items. Record those objects here:
Your job is to create smaller groups based on what the items have in common. Give each group a name and explain how you determined they belong in the same group. You must use all of the objects and have at least two groups.
I use this template for Science (specifically, classifying plants) and Math, but it could be used for a number of subjects and activities.
