I find that teaching geometry vocabulary is about finding and creating a number of experiences where students use the words in context. We might look for examples in the environment or create art projects with a set number of specific shapes.
This unit focuses on the six words used to classify quadrilaterals: square, rectangle, rhombus, parallelogram, trapezoid, and quadrilateral. I have included vocabulary cards for each and a foldable. I use the vocabulary cards as an interactive anchor chart where the students can match the word with its definition. The foldable on pages 3-4 may be printed back-to-back or you could print just page 3 for students to take their own notes.
I have included two copies of the assessment with answer keys included. I use these as pre-test and post-test.
The last activity is one I posted on my blog The Artistry of Education called Trapezoid Art Project. I find that creating art projects like this one help students use the geometry vocabulary in meaningful ways.
