Your class has been sent a letter from the United States Geological Survey! (included) The USGS needs their help classifying rocks.
Content Objective: Students will observe and describe the characteristics of their rock while investigating what kind of rock it may be.
Language Objective: Students will be able to give reasoning as to why their rock is a specific kind of rock.
Activity: Students will draw conclusions on their type of rock after investigating its properties.
Modifications for special needs/gifted/ELLs: Students will be given the opportunity to draw their rock as part of the rock activity lab. Students will also be given a chart listing the various kinds of rocks as well as accompanying images.
