Students are asked to interview a classmate and writing an informative essay about his or her life. They are then asked to present this essay as an oral presentation in front of the class.
Students are tasked with becoming experts on the lives of their friends. I find it helpful to work as a class to brainstorm interview questions. As we brainstorm, we think about important events that have occurred in the lives of most students. This product provides students with an assignment directions sheet that includes important student life event ideas. Additionally, students are asked to collect background information on their friends in order to engage their audience and make their speeches more interesting.
Finally, this product includes a speech practice checklist for students to use at home as they practice eye contact, appropriate pace and volume, and poised body language at in front of the mirror and in front of an audience home.
