This is the best way to start any new year. Get students up and talking to one other with the Classmate Scavenger Hunt. Though this activity students develop a deeper sense of community and are given the opportunity to learn something unique about each of their classmates.
The Scavenger hunt consists of 25 questions about students. Students must go around the room and find one student that can answer each question. The student must then ask an extension question to complete the box.
Example questions include:
Speaks a language other than English _____________
Has broken a bone ____________
Bone Broken _______________
At the end there are 3 short response questions student can answer on the paper or in a journal.
The final question asks students to write a complete letter persuading another teacher to implement the activity in his/her classroom.
Students really enjoy this activity and starts the year off in a positive way.
