Having a leveled library plays an important role in helping students to find books that are geared to their reading levels. While this packet is geared toward using Accelerated Reader (AR) reading levels, it doesn’t really matter whether you actually use the software program or not, although I love it. The AR levels can be used as a helpful tool for setting up reading levels in your classroom even without the program. Before setting up my library with actual reading levels I had to look at each book and determine how difficult or easy I thought the text was and place books in basket this way. It wasn’t very efficient.
This packet is a 10 page packet that shows you how I set up my classroom library. I’ve also provided a list of the AR levels that I use, and colored stars. I hope that you can use this idea to help build your library.
