In my classroom I use A LOT of binders. I use binders to organize everything- it makes it easier for me, and the kids! Many of the binder covers included here are managed by students. They know where these binders are and how to use them appropriately! They help me with tracking data and keeping our whole classroom organized!
The binder covers included in this download are high quality and use bright chevron colors. Each binder cover also comes with a matching spine label! Every cover is included twice in this download- once with no clip art, and again with a clip art option! Covers included are: Homework Binder, Data Binder, Sign-Out Binder, Behavior Binder, Reading Conference Binder and Student Information Binder. ***In addition to the covers I have included a behavior log sheet, homework log sheet, as well as a sign out sheet!
Here is how I use these binders in my classroom:
Homework Binder: This sits on a front shelf in my classroom where the students have access to it. Each student has a tab in this binder. When a student misses a HW, they need to go write down (behind their tab) what they missed and when they will make it up. In my classroom that may mean at lunch time, or they will do it that evening. This HW binder is helpful because it keeps a detailed record of missing homework assignments. I pull it out when needed at conferences!
Behavior Binder: In my classroom I use a color clip chart to track behavior every day. I use this binder to record student "colors". All I do is pop in a bunch of class lists and each day the date goes at the top of a column. If a student had positive behavior, I do not record anything. I usually just write a Y for yellow, O for orange, etc. for those students that moved "down" that day. This is also a great resource to pull out for conferences! (My behavior chart is a freebie in my store!) In my classroom, this binder is actually managed by the students. One of my class jobs is "Behavior Monitor" and it is a huge help! They often remember to track the color at the end of the day better than me!!
Data Binder: This is a teacher binder that students don't have access to--- I use this to record grades, attendance, etc.
Student Information Binder: Another one the kids don't use-- this holds all important student info/parent contact info/emergency cards/etc.
Sign-Out Binder: Pretty self explanatory- this binder sits on a shelf in the front of my room and has a basic sign-out chart inside. Students record when they leave for the restroom/water/etc. This is helpful because it keeps track of those kids that leave ten times a day and you have data to follow up with them or parents if necessary!
Reading Conference Binder: My thickest binder in the bunch! I use this (no student access again) for all of my anecdotal notes when I conference with students. I have a tab for each child and use my anecdotal note form (also can be found in my TpT store). I put our beginning of the school year reading assessments and DRA Reading survey in here as well!
