How it works:
Students are given a weekly job. Each job is provided with a salary that students are awarded at the end of the week. Students must use this money to pay for weekly expenses such as water, electricity and of course their teacher! The trick is though that some jobs do not earn enough to cover the weekly expenses and so these students must earn extra money throughout the week for good behaviour. At the same time, students can be fined for negative behaviour. Students are able to take out a loan to help pay their bills. In my classroom we decided that if bills, fines or loans were unpaid after 2 weeks, students would need to complete community service at recess/lunch to help pay them off. To add to the engagement we also had a class store where students could spend any extra money on vouchers for use in the classroom.
