Having trouble with classroom management?
Post your expectations using this matrix! In order for students to have a clear understanding of the expectations in your room, there are several steps you need to take.
1. Post your expectations. Adjust this matrix as needed to fit your classroom. Decide what your routines are, mine align with those of my school. Examples of others are: Respect, Responsibility, Safety, etc. Next choose what areas students can improve behavior. Lastly, phrase every expectation positively. Instead of saying don't run, say walk; instead of don't use your cell phone, use cell phones are to be turned off and kept away, etc.
2. Teach to these expectations! Show students what it is like to follow your directions. You can also have them role play to demonstrate examples and non examples.
3. Remind your students frequently of these expectations!
