Hiking Thru Math Mountain Trails is a classroom game board that I use regularly in my classroom. Classroom game boards are a big part of my class reviews and centers. The day before a unit test, we break these out for a fun review. I also use them for student that finish early in the centers.
I've started, what you might call, a series of games. They all revolve around hiking. I love to hike and my students are very interested in my trips. One time when my family was on a New Year's camping trip a lady hiked by our site. My daughter heard her say, "Look! That dog has its own tent!". Of course, my dog sleeps in the tent or in the hammock with me! My family loved her quote so much that we use it and laugh all the time. That's were my game names come from - "That dog has its own tent!".
The first classroom game board I created was Hiking Thru Math Mountain Trails. The game is based on classic game boards that have a start and a finish. Students must answer questions on their task cards before they can roll the die and move their playing piece. There are bears, skunks, waterfalls, and switchbacks along the way to the finish line!
