This classroom guidance lesson introduces students to some new emotions that may be experienced now or in the future! Introduce the lesson by explaining that as we get older, our emotional capacity expands and we can sometimes feel 2 basic emotions at once, which creates deeper emotional experiences. Students complete a hands-on demonstration activity to explore to the new emotions. End the lesson with a pass-the-joy activity!
Includes lesson plan (objectives, outline, materials list, ASCA standards alignment), visual aid, emotion cards, definition cards, and objectives assessment checklist.
I use this lesson with fifth grade, but it is appropriate for grades 5-6.
