This classroom guidance lesson gives students the opportunity to read a short fiction text and evaluate the main character for leadership qualities. Students work in small groups to identify leadership qualities. Students then complete a "looks like/sounds like" analysis of 9 leadership qualities. The purpose of this lesson is to encourage upper elementary students to take on positive leadership roles within the school to have a great impact on the younger students!
Includes lesson plan (objectives, outline, materials list, ASCA standards alignment), 6 short fiction texts, visual aid, 9 leadership quality looks like/sounds like handouts, and objectives assessment checklist.
I use this lesson with fifth grade, but it is appropriate for grades 4-5.
