Product Description
This is a collection of four Classroom Guidance lessons, using story books, for elementary school counselors and teachers. You need to have your own copies of each of the books. These guidance lessons are designed to be presented in approximately 30 minute sessions each. "Don't Laugh At Me" is the free download for my store and also the preview for this item, so please take a look at it to decide if this will meet your needs. Descriptions of each of the lessons follows:

Stars: A guidance lesson on respect, diversity, and friendship.

Through demonstration, discussion, and storytelling, your students will learn a great lesson about respect, fairness, and cliques. Can be used for guidance lesson by the school counselor or teacher for most elementary grade levels. You will need to have a copy of "The Sneetches" to use for part of the lesson.

Don’t Bite The Hook: A guidance lesson on handling teasing and put downs, self-control.

Simon's Hook by Karen Burnett is one of my favorite counselor books, upon which I have created this guidance lesson on handling teasing and put downs! Using the fishing theme, students will learn 5 ways to avoid the hooks, and thus remain a free fish. Included with the lesson plan is a reproducible handout for your students to color and take home as a reminder. You will also need a copy of the book.

Harold and the Purple Crayon: A guidance lesson on responsibility, goal-setting, and problem solving.

Using the beloved Crockett Johnson book, Harold and the Purple Crayon, this guidance lesson teaches the concepts of goal-setting, personal responsibility, and problem solving. It can be used for whole class guidance and/or small groups.

Don’t Laugh at Me: A guidance lesson on empathy, compassion, and friendship.

This guidance lesson uses the popular book and song by Steve Seskin and Allan Shamblin, Don't Laugh at Me. (The childrens' book comes bundled with the audio CD.) It can be used as a stand-alone lesson or as part of a series for whole class guidance and/or small groups. (Note this lesson is also the free download for this store, and is the preview file for this product.)
