As a teacher we all know the feeling when you are the middle of a jammed packed lesson and students are raising their hand. I have created a simple system where students put a certain amount of fingers up to indicate what they need. For example: 1 finger= pencil, 2 fingers=tissue, 3 fingers=bathroom, 4 fingers=nurse, and 5 fingers=main office. It allows you to judge a student’s need based on their hand signal and easily send them without breaking up a lesson to ask what they need. It makes the classroom more convenient. With younger students teach the most important hand signal first and then progress them into learning the hand signals. Older students will have no problem learning the system in a quick and convenient manner.
