This classroom heplers display pack is unquie in that you have two option for helpers. Option 1 is a Boy and Girl Helper and Option 2 is where each student gets a job.
Two Helpers Only:
At the beginning of the year, the kiddos and I make a chart of the jobs that should be done each day. This hangs up all year. I then only have one girl helper and one boy helper each day. They are in charge of all the jobs for the day. This alleviates me having to keep track of who was supposed to do what and it gives kiddos a day in which they get to basically be the teacher’s assistant.
Everyone Has a Job
I explain each job and the requirements. Kiddos write me a short letter explaining their top 3 picks and why they would be the best at the job. I choose helpers for the entire quarter based off of their letters. Not all kids get what they want so I explain that up front. I tell them they might not get the job they want. I might need their specific abilities for something else. As long as you make them feel special about it, they will be fine with what you choose. You could also change them each month.
