Mini Shields for Desks

Numbers to fit on the wheel

Number Flip Books to keep track of House Points.

On the first day of school each kiddo spun my wheel and that is how they were sorted into the different houses. I have Respect, Support, Patience, and Kindness. The wheel was purchased on Amazon and is called Educational Insights Jumbo Magnetic Spinner.

Every day I am watching the students and I give tally marks as I see wonderful behavior. If I see behavior that is not school appropriate, I take away tally marks. (Just like Hogwarts!)

Each student has a mini shield on their desks and their names are next to their shield on my board. This makes it very easy for me to remember who is in each house.
If I see something that is extra special and wonderful I let them spin my wheel and earn extra points!

At the end of the day I take their daily score and add it to our big bulletin board. This is their of all time score.

There is a weekly prize for the team with the most points, a quarter prize, and an end of year prize. Once a month I will be eating lunch with each team separately to discuss how we can work on the traits that their houses represent.
For example when I ate lunch with Kindness we discussed different ways our classroom can be more kind and how can we help our school show kindness. This week team Kindness suggested we show kindness by helping people in Texas, they asked if our school could start collecting things that are needed and send them down.

My class is extremely excited about their houses and it is a very easy way for me to manage my room and keep 3rd grade fun!
