*NEW AND UPDATED VERSION*
Since putting this document up first I have made a number of additions:
- A number of new apps that we have purchased and used in our classrooms
- More detailed descriptions of a number of apps including ideas for classroom use
- Index of apps by KLA and A-Z
- A Day in the Life of a 5/6 Ipad
This is a practical guide to apps that have been used in a grade 3/4 classroom. It contains a list of and brief descriptions of over 100 apps and 22 story book apps that our school has purchased, and I have used in my classrooms.
The list is comprised of mostly practical apps that take advantage of the Ipads touchscreen ability to make the most mundane tasks interactive and engaging, and turn objects on a screen into concrete materials for students to manipulate and increase their understanding.
It is by no means an exhaustive list of apps, merely apps I have come across by browsing the iTunes store or word of mouth, then trialled and used in my classroom with my students. There are many more out there that can be found by browsing blogs, but this guide contains practical descriptions of apps that have been used and how, rather than just a pure description of the app.
I believe this guide is well worth the money for the content and the time I have spent writing it. If you have any other apps you believe could go in this guide, please send me an email or comment with the name of the app and a link to its home, and I will do my best to try it, and include it in further updates.
