Instead of having just a few jobs that rotate each week, every student in my class has a job that they keep an entire quarter. It is much more efficient and a lot less confusing! Also, it gives the students a chance to "perfect" their job which gives them more of a sense of purpose in the community. I explain to them at the beginning of the year that our classroom is a community and in order for it to run smoothly, everyone must work together. Therefore, no job is too big or too small. Some unique jobs include: exterminator, life coach, visual merchandiser, barista, and athletic director.
