Each classroom job is designed to make the teacher's job easier while assisting students in developing leadership skills that promote responsibility, integrity, follow-through, decision-making, fairness, trustworthiness, respect, caring, citizenship, communication, and service-learning.
Everyone sets up their classroom jobs in their own unique way. I want my students to apply for the jobs. This gives them practice filling out an official application. In the application they are required to think about why they want the job and how they will work if they get the job of their choice.
I read the applications and assign my jobs for three months at a time. Each job lasts one month. Weekly jobs just didn't work for me. I have included three charts to list my students so I know who is getting what job. This means that my students fill out the job application three times. I do grade these applications, because I want my students to become better communicators and critical thinkers in an authentic situation. Everyone in some points in their lives will fill out a job application.
