I know I am a bit late to the game, but I have finally decided to turn over the leadership of my classroom to my students by giving them more responsibility and leadership opportunities. If you’re like me, letting go of that control can be a bit terrifying! I’ve traditionally only had a handful of classroom jobs that I have students rotate through on a weekly basis. Well, I have scoured the internet looking for a set of classroom leadership jobs I feel I can realistically and successfully utilize in my classroom. I have finally narrowed it down to 17 jobs that I have traditionally done myself. All these are jobs I feel students can take over with some practice and training. Some of the jobs will only require one student, but others may take several depending on your classroom needs. The jobs include: Agenda Assistant, Calendar Assistant, Centers Manager, Closet Manger, Computer Technician, Custodian, Energy Monitor, Hall Monitor, Librarian, Library Tub Carrier, Lunch Carrier, Pencil Sharpener, Postal Clerk, Recycling Manager, Secretary, Supply Manager & Teacher Assistant.
This product also contains a classroom leadership job application page for students to complete. You may want to simply assign students to a job, or if you want you can have students “apply” for their desired jobs. It is my hope that by having students apply for their desired positions they will have more “buy in” and will be more likely to complete their duties responsibly!
Additionally, I have provided “job award certificates” you can give to students for those who earn various leadership positions.
I hope you and your students find this product useful! I look forward to hearing how you utilize these classroom jobs and applications in your own classroom!
